About Shadowhunters
Clary Fray learns she descends from angel-blooded demon hunters and gets pulled into the New York Institute's war with Valentine. The Freeform series Shadowhunters (2016-2019) tells that story across three seasons and 55 episodes, with Katherine McNamara as Clary. Start there: it adapts far more of Cassandra Clare's books than the film ever did.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013) is an earlier, separate adaptation with a different cast. Its planned sequel was cancelled after weak box office, so treat the film as an optional alternate take once the series is done.
Good to know
The series is a reboot of the film, not a continuation; casts and continuity do not carry over. Freeform cancelled it in June 2018 but ordered two extra episodes, so season 3 runs 22 episodes and ends with a planned two-part finale. No revival or new adaptation has been announced.
