About Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 8 adapts Matsumoto's manga in order through Production I.G seasons. Season 1 from April 2024 follows Kafka hiding his kaiju form as a Defense Force cadet, the Mission Recon recap plus Hoshina's Day Off special bridged 2025, and season 2 from July to September 2025 runs eleven episodes into the Second Wave.
A conclusion arc is now in production after the December 2025 announcement, and the short Narumi's Week at Work premiered September 5, 2026 in four episodes. The manga ended in July 2025, so the remaining material for the finale already exists on paper.
Good to know
Watch season 1, then the Hoshina special as a breather, then season 2 in order, since Kafka's secret status drives every arc. The recap film can be skipped by anyone who watched season 1 fresh. Story order matches release order throughout, so one list covers it, and the in-production conclusion arc is the only gap left before the story ends.
