About Kyousougiga
Kyousougiga starts with the original net animation in 2011 as Koto smashes through Kyoto hunting the black rabbit. Four follow up shorts in 2012 widen the Myoe family past.
The TV series from 2013 retells the hunt across ten episodes with the mirror city lore. Watch the 2011 short first, then the 2012 shorts, then the TV run. Toei built the TV version as the full telling, so the shorts play as sketches before the feature. Myoe and Koto lead every version. Toei animated the TV run. The mirror city rules stay consistent.
Good to know
Watch the shorts before the TV run. The 2013 series assumes the character designs known but retells the story fully. The extra episode slots after the finale as a coda. No new Kyousougiga anime had been announced as of October 2026. The mirror city lore pays off in the TV run. Start with the 2011 short.
