About Made in Abyss
Riko and the robot boy Reg descend the Abyss to find Riko's mother. Start with season 1 (13 episodes, 2017). Then skip or skim the two 2019 recap films, Journey's Dawn and Wandering Twilight. They compress season 1 with little new footage.
Dawn of the Deep Soul (film, January 2020) is required viewing and adapts the Bondrewd arc. Season 2, The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (12 episodes, 2022), continues from the film. Release order equals story order here.
Good to know
A sequel film series opening with Awakening Mystery (Mezameru Shinpi) was announced for 2026, but no exact release date was confirmed as of September 17, 2026. A game and a planned Western live-action film sit outside this order.
