About Metallic Rouge
Metallic Rouge is an original science fiction anime from Bones, made for the studio's 25th anniversary and directed by Toshizo Nemoto from a story by Yutaka Izubuchi. It ran 13 episodes from January to April 2024. Rouge Redstar, an android called a Nean, hunts nine rogue Immortal Nine machines across Mars and Venus with investigator Naomi Orthmann, hiding her combat frame behind a pop idol cover.
Each episode follows one target or one turn in the chase, so release order is the viewing order from Rouge's arrival through the Venus carnival to the final Immortal. The show mixes tokusatsu flavor with noir buddy beats, and its short run means no films or OVAs sit between episodes. Watch 1 through 13 straight through for the full hunt.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 13 in release order, since each Immortal Nine target leads directly into the next reveal about Rouge. The Mars and Venus settings blur together, so note which planet each episode opens on. The idol cover plot pays off late, so early musical scenes deserve attention. With 13 episodes and no side material, the full hunt fits in one focused run of sittings.
