About Moyashimon
Moyashimon follows agri student Sawaki seeing microbes at university from Masayuki Ishikawa's manga. The 2007 anime ran 11 episodes from October on Noitamina with Telecom animation. Returns ran 11 episodes from July 2012 continuing the fermentation cellar work. A live action series ran 11 episodes in 2010.
The manga won kinetics prizes and finished in 13 volumes. Both anime runs share staff and cast. Watch the anime pair in order, then treat the drama as a separate telling of the same school year.
Good to know
Watch the 2007 series before Returns, since the cellar project continues directly from the first year. The live action covers similar ground with real actors for the curious viewer. Sawaki's microbe sight anchors both runs throughout. No third anime season has been announced, so Returns is the endpoint.
