About Mysterious Cities of Gold
Mysterious Cities of Gold began in 1982 as French Japanese adventure from Jean Chalopin and Soji Yoshikawa, following Esteban from Spain with Zia, Tao, and Mendoza to the Inca City of Gold over 39 episodes. Blue Spirit continued it as a direct sequel in November 2012, with season two in 2012 to 2013, season three in 2016, and season four from December 2020 to January 2021, each 26 episodes.
The sequel assumes the original Condor and medallion setup. Watch the 1982 run first, then the three sequel seasons in air order through Fin de laventure for the seven city payoff.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing. The 1982 original and the 2012 to 2021 sequel tell one forward voyage from Barcelona to the seventh city across 117 episodes, so release order and story order are the same list. Documentaries narrated by Mendoza close episodes but do not branch the timeline.
