About Dogtanian
Dogtanian adapts Dumas as dogs with BRB and Nippon Animation. The 1981 original ran 26 episodes from October 1981 as Dogtanian joins Athos, Porthos and Aramis under Treville. The Return ran 26 episodes from 1990 with Wang Film animation as the married Muskehounds reunite against Blancbec's twin plot.
A 1985 special and the 1995 One for All film edit the runs for newcomers. The sequel assumes the original's friendships and Juliette marriage. Watch the 1981 run first, then the Return as a direct ten years later chapter.
Good to know
Watch Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds before The Return, since the sequel opens on married life it assumes you know well. The edit films are optional recaps for younger viewers starting out. The Blancbec twin plot needs the original friendships first. No third series has aired, so the 1990 run is the endpoint.
