About Sound! Euphonium
Sound! Euphonium follows Kumiko and the Kitauji concert band's climb to nationals across three seasons (2015, 2016, 2024), with Kyoto Animation's obsessive instrument detail. The story runs straight through: first-years to seniors, regionals to the national stage.
Between seasons sit the films: Liz and the Blue Bird (2018) is a delicate side story about side characters, best after season 2, while Chikai no Finale (2019) bridges into the third year. The Ensemble Contest chapter (2023) slots before season 3. Recap films exist for seasons 1 and 2 and are skippable. Season 3 closes Kumiko's arc properly.
Good to know
Liz and the Blue Bird confuses viewers by sidelining Kumiko: it is a Mizore and Nozomi story set during the same year, so treat it as a companion piece. The recap films (Welcome to Kitauji, May the Melody Reach You) condense the TV seasons and can be skipped entirely. Season 3 adapts the final novel arc, ending the story as written. No further anime had been announced at the last check.
