About Touken Ranbu
Touken Ranbu starts with Hanamaru season 1 in 2016 across twelve episodes of citadel daily life with the sword boys. Katsugeki followed in 2017 across thirteen episodes with a harder time war mission.
Hanamaru Zoku continued in 2018 across twelve episodes back in slice of life mode. Watch Hanamaru 1 first, then Katsugeki, then Zoku. The two Hanamaru runs share a tone while Katsugeki plays as its own mission, so release order keeps each mode clear. The Saniwa Citadel hosts every run. Three runs across citadel and war. Doga Kobo and ufotable split the tones.
Good to know
Watch in release order. Doga Kobo animated Hanamaru while ufotable handled Katsugeki, which shows in the tone split. The three Hanamaru films compile and extend the TV runs. No new Touken TV anime had been announced as of October 2026. The game continues beyond. Start with Hanamaru 1. The stage plays continue beyond.
