About The Real Ghostbusters
The Real Ghostbusters follows Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston busting New York spooks with Janine and Slimer. The series runs 140 episodes from 1986 to 1991 through Boogieman and Grundel arcs, Slimer spinoff blocks air inside, and Extreme Ghostbusters in 1997 follows Egon training Kylie, Roland, Garrett and Eduardo with 40 episodes.
Watch the original series first for proton stream rules before Extreme assumes the firehouse lore. Episodes reset with ghost of the weekder, so sampling is safe after the pilot. The films stay separate as live action canon, so keep the cartoon run as its own track with no revival ordered.

Extreme Ghostbusters assumes Egon Janine firehouse history, which lands better once the 1986 team is fully known. Treat Extreme as the close with the firehouse reopened and no further cartoon dated.
