About Thomas & Friends
Thomas started October 1984 with model series through 12 seasons to 2008 plus Magic Railroad in 2000. The CGI era from Hero of the Rails in 2009 runs seasons 13 through 21 to 2017 with films like Adventure Begins in 2015 and Journey Beyond Sodor in 2017.
Big World in 2018 covers seasons 22 to 24 to 2021 with global travel. All Engines Go ran 4 seasons and 156 episodes from 2021 to 2025 in 2D with specials. Railway Stories started September 2026 with Really Helpful Engines and season 1 due early 2027. A hybrid film stays in development with no date.
Good to know
Episodes stand alone as Sodor lessons, so release order tracks models to CGI to 2D to classic return rather than plot. Adventure Begins in 2015 acts as a prequel but fits where it released. Railway Stories season 1 and the hybrid film sit last with null years until they land as new releases as of September 2026.
