About Age of Mythology
Age of Mythology (2002) brings Greek, Egyptian and Norse gods with Arkantos campaign Fall of the Trident. The Titans (2003) adds Atlanteans and Titan units with Kastor story ten years later. Tale of the Dragon (2016) adds Chinese myth for the Extended Edition on Steam.
Age of Mythology: Retold (2024) rebuilds the game on Bang Engine for PC and Xbox with full visual redo, then adds Immortal Pillars Chinese rework March 4, 2025 and Heavenly Spear Japanese September 30, 2025. Play originals first for campaign history, then Retold for current multiplayer, since Retold excludes old Tale content at launch before its own DLCs.

Release order shows god roster growth from three pantheons to six across twenty three years. Start with Retold if you want active multiplayer and modern controls, since it bundles Fall of the Trident, Golden Gift and New Atlantis. Play the 2002 original and Titans for classic balance and legacy campaigns. The series stays active with Retold expansions, so check for Aztec or further DLC after Heavenly Spear.
