About Danganronpa
Danganronpa starts with Trigger Happy Havoc in 2010 trapping Hope's Peak students in class trials, then Goodbye Despair in 2012 moves the killing game to Jabberwock Island. Another Episode in 2014 bridges them from Komaru's street view but spoils the second game, so play it after. The 2013 anime adapts the first game as an alternate telling, then the 2016 anime closes Hope's Peak by alternating Future and Despair episodes before the Hope finale.
V3 in 2017 starts a separate story with a new cast and needs the Hope's Peak saga finished first for its meta payoff. Danganronpa 2x2 from 2026 retells Goodbye Despair expanded. Release order with the anime interleaved as aired is the full path; games-only works by skipping the anime block entirely.
Good to know
Play Trigger Happy Havoc, then Goodbye Despair, then Another Episode despite its earlier setting, since it spoils the second game's survivors. Watch the 2016 anime alternating Future and Despair episode by episode as broadcast, ending with Hope, before touching V3. The 2013 anime can substitute for the first game but never precede the second. V3's separate cast still assumes saga literacy for its ending.
