About Def Jam
Def Jam turns Def Jam rappers into fighters under EA. Vendetta launched April 2003 on GameCube and PS2 from AKI as a wrestling battler with D-Mob holding Angel. Fight for NY followed September 2004 on GameCube, PS2 and Xbox as a street brawler sequel, adding kickboxing and crowd weapons with Snoop Dogg as Crow.
Icon closed the fighting line March 2007 on PS3 and Xbox 360 with music terrain damage, while the PSP Takeover retold Fight for NY in 2006. Rapstar from 2010 switched to karaoke and sits outside the fighting arc as a music spinoff.

Vendetta into Fight for NY forms one D-Mob story, so play those two back to back for the arrest payoff in New York City. Icon resets with a new label war lead and looser links, so it can follow any time after. Create a fighter carries across the first two, which rewards keeping the same style build.
