Digital Devil Saga Play Order

Digital Devil Saga in order across its two part duology from 2004 to 2005 on PS2. The Junkyard war starts in part one and ends in part two, so the two games share systems and form one continuous story with no side path.

About Digital Devil Saga

Digital Devil Saga spins out of Shin Megami Tensei as the Embryon tribe fights toward Nirvana in the Junkyard. Part one launched July 2004 in Japan and April 2005 in America on PS2 with turn based battles and mantra grids. Part two launched January 2005 in Japan and October 2005 in America as a direct continuation.

Atlus developed both games with the same systems and a shared save mindset. The second game assumes the first ending and resolves Sera's mystery and the Black Sun. Together they run as one two disc epic split across years, closer to a single story than two sequels.

Good to know

Play part one before part two with no detour, since the second opens mid plot. The mantra grid and devour systems carry over in concept, so learning them early matters. Serph leads the Embryon throughout, so the party bond matters. Both games are PS2 era with PS3 ports, so expect that pacing. No third entry has been announced.
