About Eastward
Eastward (2021 to 2024) is Pixpil's pixel road trip with John and Sam crossing a ruined world by train. The base game follows the pair from Potcrock through towns, dungeons and the miasma plot across 30 plus hours. The Octopia DLC (2024) offers a cozy farm-life epilogue with the same cast in a parallel village run. Combat mixes pan frying and energy blasts.
Play in release order because Octopia assumes love for the cast. Eastward released September 2021 on Switch and PC with Xbox later. Octopia arrived January 2024 as paid DLC. Finish the base campaign first, then farm in Octopia once the main journey ends.
Good to know
The set is one 30-hour adventure plus a cozy farming expansion, best played back to back. The base mixes Zelda-like dungeons with EarthBound towns and cooking. Octopia drops combat for crops, festivals and neighbor tasks. Play Eastward first for the plot, then Octopia for the calm epilogue, since the DLC reuses faces and jokes that only land after the train trip and the finale reveals.
