About Lunar

Lunar is Game Arts' storybook RPG line: Alex's journey to become Dragonmaster in Silver Star, Hiro's goddess quest in Eternal Blue, each told with animated cutscenes and CD soundtracks that defined the Sega CD era. The PlayStation remakes (Silver Star Story, Eternal Blue Complete) are the versions people remember.

Play the remakes in release order; the originals are historical artifacts with brutal dungeons. Dragon Song (2005) on DS is a divisive prequel best left for last. The 2025 Remastered Collection bundles both PlayStation versions with modern conveniences and is now the definitive purchase. Each game stands alone apart from shared world history.

Good to know

Working Designs' localizations are beloved and libertine in equal measure: expect jokes that were never in the Japanese script. The Sega CD originals command collector prices, which the Remastered Collection mercifully undercuts. Dragon Song's controversial changes (running, simplified combat) make it skippable for story-first players. No new Lunar game has been announced beyond the collection.
