About Persona

Persona is Atlus's series of RPGs about students who summon inner selves to solve murders, conspiracies and reality-bending rumors. The 1996 original and the Persona 2 duology are old-school dungeon crawlers; from Persona 3 (2006) on, each entry mixes calendar school life with turn-based combat. Every numbered game stands alone, so release order is the play order. Most newcomers should start with Persona 5 Royal or Persona 3 Reload.

Always play the definitive version: Reload for 3, Golden for 4, Royal for 5. Persona 5 Strikers is a direct action sequel to 5 and Tactica is a tactics side story set during 5. Persona 4 Revival, a full remake of 4, is dated February 18, 2027, and Persona 6 is announced with no date.

Good to know

Play the Persona 2 duology as Innocent Sin then Eternal Punishment; the PSP version of Innocent Sin is the English-friendly one. Reload launched without the old FES extras, then added Episode Aigis as DLC, so current buyers get the full package.

Persona 6 got a teaser at the June 2026 Xbox showcase with no story or date attached, so treat any plot talk as rumor. The mobile game Phantom X sits outside this list.
