About Star Soldier
Star Soldier follows Caravan style space shooting built for Hudson's score contests across the Soldier series. The run starts with Star Soldier in 1986, then Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier, Soldier Blade, Vanishing Earth and the Wii remake R.
Play in release order. Powerup routing and two and five minute score habits from the original carry into every sequel, while Blade adds speed runs that assume formation reading. Vanishing Earth moves the loop to 3D for veterans. R rebuilds the caravan mode on Wii as a fine current start with classic timing intact.
Good to know
Stages reset around score runs every game, so order tracks routing rather than plot. The PC Engine trilogy of Super, Final and Blade marks the mechanical peak. Vanishing Earth keeps the caravan spirit in 3D without dropping the core. No new Star Soldier has shipped since R in 2008, leaving it as the close.
