About Steel Diver
Steel Diver arrived March 2011 as a Nintendo 3DS launch title with touch slider submarine controls across missions and periscope stages. Steel Diver: Sub Wars arrived February 2014 on 3DS eShop as a free to start sequel with 3D naval combat and online multiplayer. Nintendo EAD developed both with Vitei support.
No third entry has been announced. The two form a closed pair with the sequel expanding controls and versus play. Each stands alone with a new ocean set, but systems build in order. Full pair.
Good to know
Release order matches the control learning curve from sliders to full 3D. Sub Wars free version gates content behind payments, so expect that structure. The original's periscope stages return refined in the sequel. With Nintendo quiet on subs since 2014, these two remain the full line. Start with Sub Wars if you only pick one for multiplayer.
