About Vampire: The Masquerade
Vampire: The Masquerade games adapt White Wolf's tabletop setting of vampire clans, sects and the Masquerade that hides them. The core run is Nihilistic's Redemption (2000), Troika's Bloodlines (2004) and The Chinese Room's Bloodlines 2 (2025). Newcomers should start with Bloodlines 1 with the community Unofficial Patch, which fixes the bugs left by its rushed 2004 launch.
This play order follows release order. Redemption and Bloodlines are separate stories in one setting, so order matters less for plot than for seeing the design change. Bloodhunt was a battle royale spinoff and is listed for completeness. Bloodlines 2 follows an elder vampire in modern Seattle.
Good to know
Bloodlines launched November 16, 2004 against Half-Life 2 and sold under 80,000 copies at first; fans kept it alive with the Unofficial Patch, which is close to required on PC. Bloodhunt entered early access September 7, 2021, launched fully April 27, 2022, and shut down April 28, 2026, so it is no longer playable. Bloodlines 2 launched October 21, 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S from The Chinese Room and Paradox Interactive. No next game has been announced.
