About The World Ends with You
The World Ends with You runs two Shibuya action RPGs, starting with the 2007 DS original as Neku plays the Reapers Game with pins and dual screen combat across seven days. NEO: The World Ends with You in 2021 returns with Rindo and a new crew, swapping touch controls for team beat drops while keeping the week loop and noise battles.
The original remains the start for its partner mechanics and fashion brands, with the 2012 Solo Remix port as the modern way in. NEO fits second as a direct sequel set three years later with a new crew facing old Reapers. The anime retells the first week as a recap.
Good to know
Release order is story order, with NEO set three years after the original week and full of returning Reapers. Play the DS original or its Solo Remix port first, since NEO assumes the pin grammar and the Shibuya rules without reteaching. The anime covers the same first week in compressed form, so watch it after playing rather than before. No third week is dated.
