Kaili Blues premiered at Locarno in 2015, following doctor Chen Sheng through Guizhou with poems by the director, closing on a 41 minute single take through Dangmai village. Long Day's Journey Into Night premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard in 2018 with Tang Wei and Huang Jue, ending on a 59 minute 3D single take through a recreated Kaili town.
Shorts such as Secret Goldfish from 2016 sit outside this two feature list. Resurrection premiered later at Cannes in 2025 and stays outside this list for now. Watch Kaili Blues first, then Long Day, to feel the take length and dream logic expand across the pair.
