About Cary Fukunaga

Cary Fukunaga debuted with Sin Nombre in 2009 about migrants crossing Mexico, then directed Jane Eyre in 2011 with Mia Wasikowska. Beasts of No Nation followed in 2015 as a Netflix child soldier drama, and No Time to Die in 2021 closed the Daniel Craig Bond run.

On TV he directed all of True Detective season 1 in 2014 and all of Maniac in 2018 with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. The films are standalone, so release order shows his move from handheld indie work to large franchise staging without missing links.

Good to know

Watch the four films oldest to newest since they share no story. True Detective season 1 fits after Beasts as his peak TV stretch, with Maniac after it. Jane Eyre suits period fans while the rest skew modern. No next feature has a date at all, so the 2021 Bond film stays last until one is announced.
