About Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan started with the black and white crime puzzle Following in 1998, then broke out with Memento in 2000 and the studio remake Insomnia in 2002. Batman Begins in 2005 launched his Dark Knight run, followed by The Prestige in 2006 and The Dark Knight in 2008. Inception arrived in 2010, The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, and Interstellar in 2014.

Dunkirk followed in 2017, Tenet in 2020, and Oppenheimer in 2023, which won best picture and best director. The Odyssey opened July 17, 2026 in 70mm IMAX as his take on Homer, shot with new IMAX cameras. Watch the thirteen in release order, since each builds tools the next one reuses.

Good to know

These are standalone stories with no shared continuity, so there is no chronological order to untangle. Release order shows the practical effects habit grow, from reverse structure in Memento to IMAX scale in Dunkirk and Oppenheimer. The Batman three fit here as Nolan films, not as the full Batman saga. The Odyssey is the latest released, with no next film announced as of October 2026.
