About DC Universe
The DC Universe is the shared continuity built by DC Studios under James Gunn and Peter Safran. Its first chapter, Gods and Monsters, opened with the animated Creature Commandos in December 2024 and reached theaters with Superman in July 2025. Peacemaker season 2 follows directly, with Supergirl, the Lanterns series, Clayface and the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow filling out 2026 and 2027.
This guide lists DCU canon only. The older DCEU run from Man of Steel through Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a separate continuity and is left out, as is Matt Reeves's standalone Batman universe. Gunn has said the timeline runs in release order apart from flashbacks, with one exception: Clayface is set before Superman.
Good to know
The DCEU (2013 to 2023, Man of Steel through Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, including Zack Snyder's Justice League) is a separate continuity and is excluded by design. Peacemaker season 1 belongs mostly to that old continuity: Gunn counts its events as canon except the Justice League cameo, so this guide lists season 2 only. The chronological list reflects Gunn's own statements, including that Clayface sits before Superman.
