About X-Men
Fox's X-Men saga ran from 2000 to 2020 across thirteen films: the original trilogy, the First Class prequels, the Wolverine spinoffs, the Deadpool films and the New Mutants coda. Days of Future Past splits the saga in two when Wolverine rewrites 1973, so everything from Apocalypse on plays in a revised timeline while Logan stands apart in 2029.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) closes the Fox era and carries its two leads into MCU canon through the multiverse. Marvel Studios plans its own X-Men reboot, but no release date was confirmed as of this guide's last check. Until then the Fox saga is a finished story with a fixed endpoint.
Good to know
Timeline placement is disputed across fan guides because Days of Future Past rewrites history mid-saga. The chronological list below follows the most commonly cited placement: prequels first, the original trilogy intact, the revised timeline after 1973, then Deadpool & Wolverine and Logan at the end. Logan is set in 2029, which is why it closes the list despite releasing in 2017. The TV series Legion and The Gifted are excluded as tangential continuities.
