About X-Men
The Fox X-Men run lasted twenty years and told its story out of sequence, which is why both a release list and a story list help. The original trilogy opened in 2000, the First Class prequels rewound to the 1960s, and Days of Future Past in 2014 merged both casts before Logan (2017) closed Hugh Jackman's run and Dark Phoenix (2019) closed Fox itself.
Deadpool stayed R-rated through 2018 before Deadpool and Wolverine (2024) carried both characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has now dated a proper X-Men reboot for May 5, 2028, with Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026 bringing Fox faces back first.
Good to know
Release order keeps the reveals as intended, while story order groups the 1960s to 1980s prequels first and pushes the original trilogy later. Either path converges on Logan as the endpoint for Jackman's Wolverine. The New Mutants is the only horror entry and can be skipped without losing plot threads, and the 2028 reboot starts a new continuity.
