Fox duology
About Fantastic Four
Fox released Fantastic Four in 2005 and Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 with Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards. Josh Trank rebooted the team in 2015 with Miles Teller, a version that flopped with critics and audiences. Marvel Studios then restarted the property inside the MCU with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, released July 25, 2025, starring Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.
None of these versions connect to each other. The Fox duology, the 2015 film and the MCU film are three separate starting points, which means there is no shared timeline to untangle and no post-credit thread running across all four.
Good to know
Do not look for one timeline here, since the three versions contradict each other by design. The Fox films pair naturally as a duology, the 2015 film stands alone, and First Steps launches the MCU team ahead of Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026. First Steps also introduces Franklin Richards, so its placement matters for the wider MCU even though earlier Fantastic Four films do not.
