About I Love a Mystery

I Love a Mystery reached the screen as three Columbia films in 1945 and 1946, adapting Carlton E. Morse's radio serial about detectives Jack Packard and Doc Long. Jim Bannon and Barton Yarborough reprised their radio roles across all three, with Nina Foch co-starring in the first.

Columbia bought the rights planning two films a year for five years but stopped at three, which makes this a short complete run. The cases are standalone, so watch in release order from the Jefferson Monk decapitation tale through the final Unknown case.

Good to know

Release order is story order since the three cases share only the detectives, so no alternate chronology is listed. A 1967 Universal TV pilot with a new cast was shelved and aired once in 1973 without a series order. With no reboot announced, these three films directed by Henry Levin are the complete screen run.
