About Saw
Saw ran seven yearly films from 2004 to 2010 as a single timeline of traps, then continued out of sequence. Jigsaw from 2017 and Spiral from 2021 work as side stories, while Saw X from 2023 rewinds to set itself between Saw and Saw II with John Kramer taking a Mexican revenge trip.
A planned Saw XI for September 2025 was cancelled after producer disputes, and Blumhouse bought into the franchise in June 2025 with original creators Wan and Whannell attached to a reboot. No new film has been dated, so Saw X is the current endpoint and works as a strong finale.
Good to know
Release order suits a first watch, since the sequels assume you know the twists, while story order reshuffles the middle heavily around Saw X and the flashback structure. Jigsaw and Spiral stay optional in either path as loosely tied extras. The cancelled XI and the Blumhouse reboot carry no dates, so the guide ends at Saw X until a new film is actually scheduled.
