About Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty is Disney's spindle curse saga about Aurora pricked at sixteen. Sleeping Beauty from January 1959 ends on Phillip's kiss with Maleficent as dragon. Maleficent from May 2014 retells the curse from her side with Jolie. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil from October 2019 continues her war with Elle Fanning.
The fairies, spinning wheels and true love beats reset per telling with the same thorn shape. The villain turn only lands after the classic. Each telling plays alone once you know the spindle game.
Good to know
Release order is the only path that keeps the curse flip straight. Watch the 1959 classic first for the fairy rules, then Maleficent for the villain side, then Mistress last for the war payoff. Starting with Maleficent spoils the dragon reveal that made the original famous. The thorns never part for Aurora.
