About A Man on the Inside
A Man on the Inside follows Charles in 2024 across eight episodes going undercover in a retirement home for a theft case. Early episodes set the residents, the staff and the gentle spying.
Season 2 from 2025 moves Charles to Wheeler College for a blackmail case across eight episodes. Watch season 1 first, then season 2. The cases stand alone, but the grief and friendship threads carry over, so the college run lands warmer in order. Steenburgen joins the college run as a love interest. Season 3 was renewed in February 2026.
Good to know
Watch season 1 before season 2. Mike Schur built the run around Ted Danson with Mary Steenburgen joining the college run. Season 3 was renewed in February 2026 with no date, so it stays out of the list for now. Each case closes fully, which keeps the show gentle throughout. Start with the retirement home case.
