About First Love: Hatsukoi
First Love: Hatsukoi follows Yae and Harumichi in 2022 across nine episodes between late 1990s Hokkaido and present Tokyo. Early episodes cover the school romance, the accident and the drift apart.
The middle run covers Yae as a taxi driver and Harumichi in security work, with the Utada Hikaru songs marking each turn. The closing run ends on the Iceland plan and the reunion choice. Watch episodes 1 through 9 in order, since the two timelines braid tightly and the finale only lands in sequence. Sato and Mitsushima lead the cast across both eras.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 9 in order. The past and present cuts assume each meeting is tracked, so skipping ahead breaks the memory reveals. Netflix released the run in November 2022 as a limited series with no second season ordered. Keep subtitles on, since the dialogue moves between Japanese and English in the later episodes.
