About Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights follows Coach Eric Taylor through Dillon, Texas from Peter Berg's film and book roots. Season 1 ran 22 episodes from October 2006 around Street's injury, season 2 ran 15 shorter strike hit episodes, and season 3 ran 13 on DirecTV first. Seasons 4 and 5 ran 13 each around East Dillon Lions and the state close.
Jason Katims ran the NBC and DirecTV run with Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. The 2004 film and 1990 book sit behind the series as optional background. Cast turnover is heavy, yet Taylor family continuity threads all five years.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 5 in order, since players graduate and programs split across years directly. The show is TV-14 sports drama with grounded melodrama throughout. Coach Taylor anchors every transition personally. The February 2011 Always finale closed Dillon for good, and no revival series has aired.
