About Here and Now
Here and Now follows the Bayer family, a Portland couple with adopted Black, Vietnamese and Colombian kids facing sixtieth birthdays. Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins lead therapy fights, school protests and Ramon's visions. HBO aired ten episodes in 2018 from Alan Ball.
Early episodes establish the birthday plan and Ramon's 11:11 sightings. Middle chapters add the school shooter drill and the campaign-office affair. Later episodes stage the forest search and the party that closes the season. The visions recur with added detail, so skipping ahead hides how the family stops dismissing them.
Good to know
Watch episodes one through ten in order. The birthday countdown only moves forward across weeks, with therapy callbacks building. There is no alternate order, since visions only make sense after introductions. New viewers should expect an abrupt end due to cancellation rather than a resolved mystery.
