How To with John Wilson follows filmmaker John Wilson as he narrates lessons like how to make small talk or how to find a public restroom, illustrated entirely with candid New York street footage. What starts as awkward tutorials becomes a portrait of city life during and after the pandemic. The HBO series aired three seasons from 2020 to 2023.
Season 1 establishes Wilson's voice and his habit of chasing tangents. Season 2 expands the scope with episodes on sports and housing that reuse earlier contacts. Season 3 closes the series with a planned finale that directly references the first two seasons. Watching out of order still works for jokes, but the emotional payoff depends on having traveled with Wilson from the start.
