About Justified
Justified runs six seasons from 2010 to 2015 with Raylan Givens policing Harlan County against Boyd Crowder across seventy-eight episodes. City Primeval from 2023 jumps fifteen years to Detroit, where a Miami-based Raylan with a teenage daughter hunts the Oklahoma Wildman Clement Mansell for eight episodes. Boyd returns in the finale, tying the coda directly to Harlan.
Release order is story order, so one list covers it. City Primeval adapts Leonard's Detroit novel with Raylan swapped in, which means it assumes the original's ending without retelling it. Both runs are complete with no further season announced, and the finale's Boyd beat is the current last word on Raylan.
Good to know
Watch all six original seasons before City Primeval. The sequel's Detroit story stands alone case-wise, but its Raylan only makes sense after Harlan, and the finale cameo lands flat without that history. The show is episodic enough that season order inside the original matters less than finishing it first. Treat City Primeval as an eight-episode coda rather than a new season.
