About Mad Men
Mad Men ran on AMC from July 2007 to May 2015. It follows ad man Don Draper and the staff of Sterling Cooper across the 1960s, season by season, as the agency merges, rebrands and relocates while its people age through the decade. Peggy Olson rises from secretary to copy chief, Pete Campbell schemes upward, and Joan Harris holds the office together.
The seventh season aired in two halves of seven episodes each, in 2014 and 2015, but tells one continuous story ending in 1970. There are no spinoffs or movies, and creator Matthew Weiner has said the finale closes the story.
Good to know
Watch straight through, since nearly every payoff lands seasons later. The pilot sets up Don's secret identity in the first episode, and that thread runs to the finale. Do not skip around for the famous episodes like The Suitcase in season three, since they hit hardest with full context on Don and Peggy. The 2014 and 2015 halves of season seven belong together as one season.
