About Mortel
Mortel (2019 to 2021) follows teens Sofiane and Victor who gain voodoo powers from the god Obé to solve a murder. Season 1 tracks the deal, the school fallout and the first deaths across 6 episodes in 2019. Season 2 expands the god war and the price of power across 6 episodes in 2021.
Watch in release order because pacts, visions and deaths chain across episodes. Season 1 premiered November 2019 on Netflix France. Season 2 arrived July 2021 with higher stakes and new gods. The 12 episodes form one murder-to-reckoning arc with no film to insert. Each episode ends on a power cost that the next episode collects through school and street scenes.
Good to know
Both seasons run 6 episodes each for 12 total, with tight plotting and no filler chapters. Powers come with visible costs that compound if watched in order. No third season continues the god war. Watch season 1 then season 2 straight through, since the murder solution, the Obé bargain and the family curses introduced early pay off directly in the finale fights and farewells.
