About Pachinko
Pachinko adapts Min Jin Lee's novel across Korea, Japan and America. Season 1 from March 2022 follows teenage Sunja in the 1920s and grandson Solomon in 1989. Season 2 from August 2024 moves into World War II survival and its aftermath through October 2024. Soo Hugh created the series for Apple TV with dialogue in Korean, Japanese and English.
Both seasons run eight episodes each, 16 in total, with Youn Yuh-jung as older Sunja and Lee Min-ho as Hansu. Apple renewed after season 1 but said in July 2025 it had nothing to announce on season 3. The past and present scenes comment on each other, so the intended cross cutting only works in release order.
Good to know
Watch season 1 before season 2, since character reveals in the 1989 thread land harder with the 1920s setup fresh. The show uses subtitles across three languages by design. The cross cutting between eras only works if the early family bonds are fresh. Season 3 has no date or order as of 2026, so the October 2024 finale is the current endpoint.
