About The Crown

The Crown retells Queen Elizabeth II's reign from her 1947 wedding to Charles and Camilla's 2005 wedding, across six seasons and 60 episodes on Netflix, 2016 to 2023. Three actresses play the Queen in turn, Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton, with the cast rotating every two seasons.

Release order is story order, so one list covers it. The groups below mark each Queen's two seasons, which also track the reign's early, middle and late periods.

Good to know

Season 6 was split: four episodes on November 16, 2023 covering Diana's death, then six on December 14 closing the series. Peter Morgan always planned to end at the 2005 wedding, years before the real Queen's death in 2022. The show blends fact with invented private scenes, so treat dialogue as drama, not record. No continuation was announced as of 2026-09-17.
