About The Handmaid's Tale
The Handmaid's Tale ran six seasons on Hulu from 2017 to 2025, following June Osborne in the theocracy of Gilead. The Testaments premiered April 8, 2026 as a ten-episode sequel based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 novel, shifted to four years after June's story instead of fifteen. It follows teens Agnes and Daisy at Aunt Lydia's school, with Ann Dowd returning and Elisabeth Moss appearing as June.
The Testaments passed 45 million hours streamed and was renewed for season 2 in May 2026, with the season 1 finale on May 27. Watch all of Handmaid's Tale first. The sequel assumes you know Gilead's rules, June's children and why Aunt Lydia's softer turn matters.

Release order is story order here, so one list covers it. The novel set The Testaments fifteen years later, but the show sets it four years later with Agnes as Hannah, June's daughter. That change means the sequel spoils the end of Handmaid's Tale directly. Season 2 of The Testaments has no date yet, so treat the current finale as the stopping point and check back once Hulu sets the next season.
