About The Last of Us
HBO's adaptation of Naughty Dog's games stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie in a Cordyceps-ravaged America. Season 1 (nine episodes, 2023) covers the first game, and season 2 (seven episodes, April to May 2025) starts in on Part II with Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.
Season 3 shifts focus to Abby's side of the story and is planned for 2027, with filming underway in 2026. One short list covers everything because each season continues directly from the last.
Good to know
Co-creator Neil Druckmann stepped back from the show after season 2 to return to Naughty Dog, leaving Craig Mazin as showrunner. HBO has not decided whether the rest of Part II needs one long season or two, so a fourth season is possible but unconfirmed.
