About The Last of Us
HBO's The Last of Us adapts the Naughty Dog games in order across two seasons so far. Season 1 from January 2023 covers the first game as Joel smuggles Ellie across America, and season 2 from April 2025 starts The Last of Us Part II with Abby's revenge arc and the Seattle split.
Season 3 is planned for 2027 with Kaitlyn Dever's Abby taking the lead as the show finishes the second game. Craig Mazin runs the series after Neil Druckmann stepped back from showrunner duties, and HBO has not yet fixed whether one long season or two will close the story.
Good to know
There is no separate story order to untangle here, since HBO follows the games in sequence with only small timeline trims. Watch season 1, then season 2, then wait for season 3 in 2027. Players will notice Abby's chapters arriving later than in the game, but the plot beats land in the same places and the ending point has not been changed.
