About The Sympathizer
The Sympathizer follows the Captain, a mole inside the South Vietnamese army who leaves Saigon in April 1975 and reports from Los Angeles. Episode 1 covers the evacuation. Episodes 2 and 3 follow camp life and resettlement. Episode 4 moves to an action film set that restages the war.
Episodes 5 and 6 push the Captain toward a return trip, and episode 7 closes the mission with an interrogation that reframes earlier scenes. Creators Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar kept the seven as a closed limited run. Watch 1 through 7 in order.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 7 in order. The timeline moves forward with brief flashbacks that belong where they air, so there is no alternate order worth building. Robert Downey Jr. plays four supporting roles across the run, which reads clearly in air order. No second season has been announced, so treat the seven as a finished story.
