About We Were Liars
We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair piecing summers on Beechwood Island. Season 1 (2025) runs 8 episodes from June 18, 2025 adapting Lockhart novel. Season 2 was ordered September 17, 2025 adapting Family of Liars prequel, in production with no premiere date.
Julie Plec adapted the Prime Video show with Emily Alyn Lind leading. The Gat drowning twist carries into season 2. Watch season 1 first, then wait on 2 once dated, since the Liars fire and the Johnny Mirren returns set up the prequel run.
Good to know
Broadcast order is the only order, with one season released and the next waiting. Season 1 sets the Beechwood lie rules and the Cadence migraine that season 2 will reopen as prequel. The September 2025 order came three months after launch. Treat season 1 as latest released, with season 2 ordered in production but undated.
