About Ancient Magus Bride
The Ancient Magus Bride adapts Kore Yamazaki's manga about Chise Hatori sold to the mage Elias Ainsworth. The 3-part prequel OVA Those Awaiting a Star released 2016 to 2017. Season one aired 24 episodes from October 2017 to March 2018 covering the Albury and dragon arcs. Season two split across 2023 with 24 episodes on the College underground plot.
The manga continues past the anime with the College arc concluding and new chapters active, so further seasons stay possible with no date announced as of 2026. Studio Kafka took over season two from Wit Studio while keeping the cast consistent.
Good to know
Watch season one first, then the Those Awaiting a Star OVAs as a prequel flashback, then season two in both cours. The OVAs spoil little but assume affection for Chise, which lands better after meeting her properly. Season two splits into two twelve-episode halves that belong together, so do not stop between them.
