About Blue Period
Blue Period adapts Tsubasa Yamaguchi art school manga. Yatora Yaguchi, a popular student with good grades, finds purpose after seeing a painting and aims for Tokyo University of the Arts. Seven Arcs animated twelve episodes that aired October to December 2021, with Netflix Japan a week early from September 25.
The run covers prep school drills, the first exam self portrait task and the second exam color task. Classmates Yuka, Yotasuke and Maki shape his eye. No second season had aired as of October 2026, so the twelve episodes plus the ongoing manga are the full path.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 12 in order. Exam tasks build skills step by step, so skipping weakens later payoffs. Episode 8 self portrait and episode 12 color resolution form the spine. The show runs TV-14 for stress and brief nudity in art contexts. Manga continues past the anime, start at volume 1 if you want more after episode 12.
