About Chobits
Chobits adapts Clamp manga about prep student Hideki Motosuwa finding Persocom Chi who only says Chii. The Madhouse series aired April to September 2002 for 26 episodes on TBS, covering language lessons, job hunts and Chobit legend reveals. Recaps originally aired as episodes 9 and 18, later moved to DVD as 8.5 and 16.5 for a 24 episode broadcast cut.
Two DVD extras followed, a 27th recap numbered 24.5 and the six minute Plum and Kotoko delivery short. Funimation rescued the license for US DVD and Blu ray in 2011. The manga spans eight volumes and closes beyond anime beats with the same core pair.
Good to know
Watch the TV run in broadcast order first, skipping recaps on first pass if desired for pacing and flow here today. Add the DVD recap and delivery short after episode 26 for completist extras. The series stands alone without Angelic Layer viewing, though shared universe nods reward Clamp fans on rewatch.
