About Darker than Black
Darker than Black follows Contractor Hei hiding as Li with Yin tracking Syndicate around Hell's Gate. Season 1 from 2007 runs 25 episodes plus OVA Beneath Cherry Blossoms. Gaiden OVA from 2008 bridges the war, while Ryuusei no Gemini in 2009 runs 12 episodes with Suou in Russia plus specials.
Watch season 1 first since Contractor prices and Gate rules carry straight into Gaiden and Gemini. Gaiden works second as a bridge rather than first, because it spoils the season 1 close. No third season has been dated, which leaves Gemini specials as the current end.
Good to know
Release order matches Gate reveals with Tokyo first and Russia second. Season 1 sets star Contractor rules slowly through jobs, so give it eight episodes. Gaiden assumes the Heaven's War fallout, which makes skipping costly. Treat Gemini specials as the close with Hei Yin fates left open and no sequel pending.
